PVAC In Action

An interesting report from EuroNews about how much solar has been generated during the heatwave and its use to help the european grids supply the increased A/C demand.

They also mention the challenge after sundown when it's still hot so there's A/C demand but no solar electricity generation.

The one trick you need to know is keep the structure of your house cool and it will keep cool over night until the solar electricity generation starts again the next day.

We've experienced heat soak in a 1930's London suburban semi. In a heatwave the house slowly warms up so is cooler than outside. It eventually reaches equilibrium with the ambient temperature. However, as it cools outside the house takes longer to cool so it's hotter than ambient until it manages to cool.

In a hot climate the PVAC should be run during the day to keep the house cool and then the house itself will keep cool enough overnight.
