Tick!

We're in and the solar/PV system is up and running.

We moved in on Monday 1st June and took a meter reading 3462. We are signing up to Octopus Energy and will organise our Smart Export Guarantee tariff as soon as possible.

One disappointment is that our DNO has limited our export rate to 3kW. We made a G99 application and got less than we would with a G98!

Looking at the PowerWall3 stats, I think the system was setup on 13th May. For the rest of May, the house power was:

  • 49% solar
  • 48% PowerWall3
  • 3% Grid
and the PowerWall3 has been charging from the solar panels.

As I write, there's heavy grey cloud and rain showers but we're still generating at 1.2kW. We left the front door open overnight(!) and the ASHP has drained the PowerWall3 keeping the house warm. However, the PowerWall3 is recharging so even in this weather we should have a full battery by this evening.

As today, the 4th is the official start of our Octopus Energy contract I took another meter reading and in the 3 days we've been in, the meter has "ticked" once and now reads 3463.

I don't know what the cause of that is but it's probably a combination of things:

  • the PowerWall3 seems to draw from the Grid to confirm there's a mains supply and stay synchronised
  • running an electric oven and hob to cook supper last night. We may have exceeded the power output of the PowerWall3 and had to augment from the Grid
Still, one unit in 3 days is pretty good. Once the SEG tariff is sorted will net off against our exports.

Now, to wait for some sunny weather and see if we can get our export limit raised.
